Garmin C60CSx and Topo2008

Not sure exactly, but I know that every now and then the mapping people seem to "misplace" a road a few feet in a different direction. My TomTom even does it occasionally.

Then again, this is probably one of the main reasons I use an automotive GPS for road navigation and just use my handheld for hiking, geocaching, etc. They have different strengths.

Then agian, I don't have a CSx, so there may be some missed setting - but I have noticed the same thing on other devices as well which leads me to believe that the maps are justnot always perfectly accurate.

Edit because I cannot spell... Or, well, I can spell but only AFTER I have already submitted a post... :-)

You're not missing anything at all; Garmin missed the boat when they purchased faulty cartography. The streets are accurately named, but not accurately located. My neighborhood has existed since at least the 1940s. Metroguide, CitySelect, CityNavigator, and the older version of TOPOUSA all show the streets accurately located. However, Topo2008 shows the streets shifted by about 100 feet from their actual locations; my house plots on the wrong block. I can understand minor errors, but this is just sloppy.

They probably changed map vendors.

To the OP

Using City Navigator you can use the lock on road option to solve the problem. In topo that's not really an option. I think my old GPS automaticly switches between log on road and free roaming depending on the map set I'm looking at. It also shows me in my neighbors house when using topo. That's the nature of maps.
