Matador51
I intend to purchase Garmin or Tom Tom units for each of the kids (2) and I'm really struggling with the choice. Both children live in Canada, one in Vancouver, BC and the other in Winnipeg, MB. I've called each company and asked them if their street addresses are on their paticular maps and both siad yes, but to my knowledge, there is no way to tell which product has the most functionality. Opinions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Quote Link to comment
gratefulHIKE
well I dont know much about car units, but here is a great site that does, both units are in its buyers guide comparison list and according to it along with the features offered, the nuvi is a much greater value for the performance offered http://www.gpsmagazine.com/buyers_guide.php Quote Link to comment
+Z_Statman
Just got the nuvi for my wife and also looked at the TT. The nuvi is "really neat" and she seems to like it - so far. Good color, adjusts light automatically based on sun and good touch screen. As was said, versus the TT features, glad I went with the TT. Quote Link to comment
Swampflowr
We have the Nuvi and took it on a long trip from WA down to TX, up to MI and back to WA in Sept. We did find some glitches in the maps. It is very easy to use without having to continuously look at the manual. We are very happy with ours! Quote Link to comment
+linuxxpert
Get the Nuvi you'll be pleased! Best car unit I ever owned and could not be more "idiot proof". Even my boss was able to use it! Quote Link to comment
Matador51
I have not seen it mentioned but there will be major changes with Garmin & Tom Tom. I was reading where Nokia is buying Garmin's map supplier company (Navtronic...) & Tom Tom was going to purchase their map supplier company TeleAtlas. Nokia could opt to use the Navtronis maps themselves which would leave Garmin in the cold so they have upped the Tom Tom offer for TeleAtlas. Within a year Garmin could be using Teleatlas atlas maps.
