tick54
my new etrex venture HC uses a usb cable connection to the computer which will also power the unit. I see usb cable adapters for cigarette lighters and wonder if these are safe to use for my gps unit. That is, do they reduce the voltage to 5 volts which I see is the voltage of the usb port? +GoPhast
That is exactly what I've been using with my Legend C. I think it was for a Game Boy or PSP. I paid about $8.00 at Wally World. External power makes the batteries last much longer if you have to drive long distances between caches. my new etrex venture HC uses a usb cable connection to the computer which will also power the unit.
