+bumblingbs Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 I've had to move a cache, because it's gone missing, and I hate to put one back in the same spot where I lost one. I haven't checked yet to see how far it moved, but certainly more than 1/10 of a mile. Does anyone know the limit; how far it can go before it needs to be listed as a new cache? Thanks in advance~ Quote
+StarBrand Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 New location and new container = a new experience and should be a new cache. Just my opinion. If it moves more then 20 feet or so - that is always my general advice. Quote
+Thrak Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 Moving more than 528 feet you will need to submit it as a new cache. Quote
+Miragee Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 As I understand it, if it is more than 528 feet, you have to get the Reviewer to change the coordinates, but anything more than 100 feet, depending on the area, should probably be a new cache. Quote

I think >100 feet sounds about right for just going ahead and submitting a new cache. Edited August 13, 2007 by TrailGators Quote
+BlueDeuce Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 (edited) There's no requirement to list a new cache, just ask a reviewer to update the coords for you. Edited August 13, 2007 by BlueDeuce Quote
+bumblingbs Posted August 13, 2007 Author Posted August 13, 2007 Well, thanks for the advice. It's a six mile RT hike on the beach, so the experience isn't really all that different, it's just farther up the beach. And the original was only found by one person before it went (I know, a nice lock 'n lock full of reasonably nice stuff. Urgh.) I suppose I'll just make it a new one, but I thought there was maybe a hard and fast rule at the .1 mile point. Quote
+Miragee Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 Under those circumstances, I would check with your Reveiwer. No need to make it into a whole new cache. Just have them update the coordinates for you. Quote
+bumblingbs Posted August 13, 2007 Author Posted August 13, 2007 Miragee, I like that ~ "wherever you go, there you are" My town sort of has a motto, it's "we're all here because we're not all there". Cracks me up! Quote
