Calibrating Maps in Memory Map

Recommended Posts

Posted

I used to have v4. Then upgraded to v5.

I just can't seem to find the calibrate option under the 'maps' menu.

Any help please?

Dave

Ooops double post.

Could a mod locl/delete one of the threads?

If I remember rightly, you need the "European V5" to calibrate your own maps. If you have the OS edition, it won't let you do it.

Grrr!

So will European V5 still use the OS maps or have I wasted my cash on UK v5?

Look up "Self Scan Maps" in the help topics. You have to search for the item "Self Scan Maps"

Edit to say I have OS Edition Version 5.1.3

If I remember rightly, you require Memory Map Navigator and NOT Memory Map OS, but I stand to be corrected. If you send your email address I can send you an "idiot's guide" on how to do it.

Edited to add: The "idiot's guide" is for getting Google Earth images into MM but the principle is the same!

You can download the US version free from here http://www.memory-map.com/

You can run more than one version on your pc at the same time. I currently have version 5 OS and the US version open. The US version can be used to calibrate scanned maps and these can then be used with the OS version. (OS maps can't be used with the US version without tweaking).

I actually use both versions since I can then have two overlays.

The European version also allows calibration and works as the US.

Thanks folks.

Have downloaded the Euro version and successfully calibrated a map but my v5 does not see it. Will try US ve4rsion and see if v5 sees that calibrated map!

Success using Euro edition! (Calibrated map in a different folder so had to get v5 to look at that folder too!)
