Turbobuick86
Hello, my GPS arrived yesterday and I'm wadded up and pissed already. Is it me or is Garmin's Trip & Waypoint software so bad you can't get it completely on a drive other than C? I choose custom so it allows me to choose E drive, then it installs a few things on E, but the majority still goes on C. I don't want it there as I only put essential software on C and there isn't a lot of spare room. Quote Link to comment
+briansnat
Don't even bother with Garmin's Trip & Waypoint manager. I don't know one person who uses it. There are better options. EasyGPS is free and easy to use. GSAK is more complicated but much more powerful and is very inexpensive. Quote Link to comment
+fratermus
Hello, my GPS arrived yesterday and I'm wadded up and pissed already. Is it me or is Garmin's Trip & Waypoint software so bad you can't get it completely on a drive other than C? It's not you. Garmin software is notorious for only working in the default install location. I gave up and installed a larger C: drive when my other one fell over dead. I let Garmin install where it wants and it works fine now. Brain dead installer design, but it is what it is. Quote Link to comment
+Miragee
I don't use Garmin's Trip and Waypoint manager, but I managed to install Mapsource to the D:\ partition . . . It did put the USB drivers in the root of C:\, unbeknownst to me. I hate it when that happens . . . Quote Link to comment
Turbobuick86
Yep, just installed city navigator v8 and it too gets split between drives even though I told it where to install. Now it crashes when trying to update because the files aren't all in one place. You'd think for the price we are paying for maps it would be capable of very basic instruction. Very, very poor programming. Quote Link to comment
+NightPilot
GPS companies seem to all have poor programmers. DeLorme's programs also suck big wind. Garmin makes good hardware, but the software is hopeless. DeLorme seems the same - excellent maps, worthless software. I have no idea why that is. Quote Link to comment
Turbobuick86
I have to believe that this happens because not enough people complain. They will hear from me on this issue. Quote Link to comment
