Unlock Codes

Howdy,

 

I'm trying to load up the software from Garmin and it is asking for either an 8 or 25 digit unlock code. I' can't find them anywhere. Any clues where they are and/or what I'm doing wrong? The s/n: on the back of the case is a 9 digit number and begins with an alpha letter bringing the total characters up to 10.

On my City Navigator software the unlock code was tucked in between the stiff cardboard that sits behind the cd case and forms the background of the package. There was a note in the lower left hand corner stating that the unlock certificate was in between the cardboard inside. The backing and disc were then encased in that hard plastic stuff that forms the see through package.

No, there's an unlock, have your gps connected to your PC, process that you have to go through.

 

Should be in the manual.

Some MapSource products must be "unlocked" before you can view and transfer detailed map data. Those products come with either a 25-character unlock code that can unlock all maps associated with the MapSource product, or a MapSource Unlock Certificate, which is an 8-character coupon code that you can redeem to unlock a single region.

The UnlockWizard runs automatically at the end of the installation process. Follow the directions on your computer screen and use the code to unlock the map data and register your MapSource product.

 

If you did not unlock maps during installation, if you want to unlock another MapSource region, or if you want to unlock maps for a second Garmin GPS device, you may do so using the UnlockWizard and/or Garmin's Web site: www.garmin.com.

You can also use the UnlockWizard to view your current unlock codes, create backup files of your unlock codes, and restore your unlock codes from backup files. In addition, you can use the UnlockWizard to update your Garmin account information.
