+michigansnorkelers
I just ran across this today. http://www.clintontownship-mi.gov/Portals/.../prwinter07.pdf On page 6, I see that the local Parks And Recreation rents GPS units for a very small fee. Even non-residents can geocache all weekend for $6. What a great way to get into the sport! Is this unique to Clinton Township, Michigan? Or can newbies in your neck of the woods jump into the sport for less than the cost of gas burned on a day of geocaching? Quote Link to comment
+Isonzo Karst
Pretty neat. I dimly remember someone posting a sign in West Virginia (I think?) where they rented GPSr units for caching within the park (a state park?). And there are private vacation resorts here in Florida that feature geocaching, providing the gpsr units to do it. Quote Link to comment
+LSUMonica
Metro Parks in Nashville has about 14 Yellow Etrex units which are available to use free of charge while in the park system. All you have to do to "check one out" is to fill out a form and leave a driver's license. Quote Link to comment
ParentsofSAM
Wow I am jealous!! There area lot of neat things offered in Clinton Township! Our area has nothing like any of that!! I printed out the entire booklet and I am taking it to our Parks & Rec to let them know they should be doing things like this! Quote Link to comment
+StarDoc
Cross Ranch State Park north of Bismarck, ND, has GPSrs available for rental, plus three caches to find in the park, and about 10 or so within a few miles. The rangers are knowledgable about caching, and have been known to give hints and look up info on the Geocaching website if asked. We have the yearly North Dakota Star Party there, and last year someone set up a geocaching event in conjunction with it. Good times... Quote Link to comment
