+Brian07663NJ
Thanks - trying to find out if I can add maps to my Garmin GPSmap 60... Quote Link to comment
+Nevada Stars
Just purchased ours about 3 wks ago. Since we'll mainly use it for the desert, we'll probably get the US Topo. The compatibility info for the maps on the Garmin website was confusing, so I contacted Garmin & the US Topo is compatible with the GPSMap60. Margie Quote Link to comment
+Brian07663NJ
Thanks - I thought it was me! The Garmin website is a little confusing as to the compatibility of the mapping software. They are probably swamped with everyone who received a GPS for Christmas right now. Quote Link to comment
+Roland_oso
Here is a link to Garmin page for this product. GPSmap 60 Second bullet in the features states: Faster processor, with auto routing, turn-by-turn directions, and audio alerts along city streets or trails when using MapSource® City Select® or 24K Topo software (optional software) To the right is a pull down for all of Garmin's map software. +Brian07663NJ
Thanks - but - I saw that and took note of the "*" which stated that represented a limitation to this unit. So - back to my question...can this unit handle those software upgrades? When I did go to those pull down pages - some of them stated that certain units cannot handle an upgrade. +Roland_oso
GPSmap 60 accseories page indicates all the listed mapping software is compatible with your unit. If you select other units the "*" pops up for those that have limitations with that software. It looks like your unit is compatible with all of the mapping software Garmin has to offer. +Roland_oso
I f you look at the Basic Legend you will see the "*" denoteing the software that has limitations for that unit. Quote Link to comment
+Brian07663NJ
Thank you - I appreciate your help and patience. I am not too impressed with the Garmin webpage - as I see others have mentioned this too. Now to figure out the difference between City Select and City Navigator. Any clue? Quote Link to comment
+Roland_oso
Now to figure out the difference between City Select and City Navigator. Any clue? If I'm correct the software changed names from City Select V7 to City Navigator V8, which would mean newer updated maps in City Nav. Someone else may chime in as I also think the size of Map segments changed from V7 to V8. Quote Link to comment
kanakajeep
For my wanderings in the wilderness I use Garmin's United States Topo in my GPSr and map printouts from Delorme Topo USA. Quote Link to comment
Neo_Geo
Now to figure out the difference between City Select and City Navigator. Any clue? City Select has been discontinued. City Navigator is the street mapping software which provides autorouting data to your unit. Quote Link to comment
