+The MadHatters
I have made some custom maps of some area lakes for fishing and can view these maps in Garmin Mapsource. The problem I am having is that I am unable to select the map for uploading to my gps. I can select the Topo Canada mapset or the MG Canada and select whatever map I want no problem, but I cannot tag the custom map for upload. Any ideas. Quote Link to comment
+Red90
There must be a problem in the way you have set up the install. Do you have a preview map file? Quote Link to comment
+The MadHatters
I used cgpsmapper and created all the files necessary. I have created a folder in garmin directory to put files and edited the registry accordingly. The map does show up in mapsource and is useable on the computer, but when I try to select the map for upload to the gps, this is where the trouble starts. It will not allow me to select the custom maps to send to the gps. Quote Link to comment

rws
I'll fire them off this evening as I am stuck @work right now. you didn't send me the control file for making the preview map...but from what you did send me I need to ask you this: When you export your map in GPSMapEdit are you naming/saving the .img file as a hex I048F1F32.img or a decimal 45678901.img? It needs to be a unique 8 digit decimal number and the same .img file name must be used in the control file when you create the preview file. Quote Link to comment

GeoidPS
Here is a program that will greatly simplify the importing of an .img file into Mapsource. It will: a) remove the need to edit the registry ' remove the need to edit the test_pv.txt file c) allows quickly to add or remove Mapsets from Mapsource (and deletes the registry entries). d) Verifies the Mapsets which are in Mapsource. -Oz-
GeoidPS, that looks like a cool program. I will have to play with this. From the screenshot I can see that rws uses it Quote Link to comment
