Geocaching events.

We plan on attending our first event next weekend and we're wondered what goes down at these get-togethers? Do the organizers typically set-up caches just for the event? Is it sort of like an "geocaching/orienteering" meet?

Regardless, we are fired-up to be part of the fun and meet some of the other local cachers since we just moved to West Texas and are still assimilating (sp?). Anyone got feedback on what we should expect or things we should bring to make the event more fun?

Thanks in advance....

I guess it depends on the event. Some we have attended have been just get togethers - ie"Beer and Ribs" nights, others have been CITO events and then others have caching games, new caches, etc at them. All have been fun, a chance to meet other cachers in the area, ask questions about tough puzzles in the area, etc.

Have Fun, whatever kind of event it is... we especially enjoy reading logs now knowing the folks we have met.
