+StarBrand Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 In the past few months I have noticed a steep increase in visits to my caches with 1-2 miles of major routes. However, my caches just a bit further away have seen a decrease in logs. I even have a new one that has gone unfound for nearly 3 weeks now only 5 miles off of the Interstate in a very rural area. Anopther about 3 miles off 1-80 is unfound after 2 weeks. Anybody else notice a similar trend? I think it is due in part to the new Caches along a route Pocket Queries. Just a thought... Quote

Maybe, but I'd bet the (relatively) cheaper gas prices has something to do with it. Enjoy them. They'll be shooting back in up about 13 days. Quote
+pigpen4x4 Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 What’s going to happen in 13 days to affect the supply/demand of the worldwide oil market? Some catastrophe? Another mid east crises? PP Quote

+sbell111 Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 (edited) SA may decide to go allong with the rest of OPEC and restrict output. Also, the oil companies might possibly decide that they need just a bit more profit. Just a guess... Edited October 27, 2006 by sbell111 Quote

+TheAlabamaRambler Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 Or he could have plans, like the wacko that showed up at my ham shack (tent) in Biloxi while doing Katrina relief - this cat comes to my campsite, leans his machine gun against my Jeep, sits at my table and proceeds to tell me how this is the end times, he is going to rewrite the Book of Revelations and he will have an effect on the end of the world! I suppose that would affect gas prices! Ed Quote
+StarBrand Posted October 27, 2006 Author Posted October 27, 2006 (edited) As someone who grew up around the oil business I just have to ask - why is it that nobody worried about oil company losses for the 15 or more years they lost money?? If they are capable of manipulating prices - why didn't they do it then? Get real!! Back on topic - anybody have a comment on my OP??? Edited October 27, 2006 by StarBrand Quote
Mushtang Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 Back on topic - anybody have a comment on my OP??? I have a rest area cache, and I haven't noticed any dramatic increase in the finds on it. It's probably my most often found cache but I think the fact that it is on a major highway would explain it, with or without the Cache Along A Route feature. Quote
+baloo&bd Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 I know weather has played a big part around the midwest. Weekends have not been the most condusive to caching. Quote
+pigpen4x4 Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 I don't know where they are, but I know when I am traveling, I won't venture far from the hwy. Then again, I also won't make a stop for just anything either. "Hold a little longer son, the next stop is only 100 miles further!" PP Quote

I'd go look for yours, if you hid them a bit closer. Say... within 20 miles of Omaha? I like getting off the highway and getting completely lost in areas I've never been in. I'm serious! But the people I end up asking directions from don't always agree. Quote
