derrylynne
Pleased to say the event is now live on Geocaching.com. We are now counting down the days to Spring and event time. With luck the sun will shine - warm days will be here and we will all have a super time.... Quote Link to comment

derrylynne
The event is getting nearer – soon be spring with those lighter nights and warmer sunny days – and the plans are taking shape. The event is going to be publicised quite widely in South Wales in the Newspapers and with many posters that will be put out nearer the time the hope is this will be a busy event. One event we are planning is for a half hour chat on Geocaching in the Conference room followed by a short chat about the gps just after noon for members of the public that would like to know more – and then for a -Lets have a go – session when those at the chat can find a few small caches put nearby in the play area using a gps. Can you help? Would you be able to volunteer some time for this. If you can please drop us an email. The meeting/greeting room will be open from about 10am to 4pm. It will be great if individual geocachers can pledge an hour to hold fort in the room and hand out/ offer information to those needing it. After all it will Be nice for Lynne and I to have a break. Can you help? If so please email us and let us know. Posters will be available in late March and we can email you one to print on your printer. Would you like to have one put up in your local Spar/post office/corner shop. If you can help by putting a poster advertising the event please email us and let us know. Keep an eye on this forum page as more will be coming up soon. Don't forget this event can only be great with your help. Together we will make this one to remember.... Quote Link to comment
derrylynne
Many from South Wales including ourselves travelled to the Burrington Bash in north Somerset and had a terrific time - now soon it will be our turn to be the hosts at what we hope will be a great all day event with an evening get together. Full details here The page has been updated this last few days and will continue to be updated on a regular basis soon.. Quote Link to comment
lordelph
(bump!) Just booked our camping pitch for this one - only "a couple" of pitches left apparently, so if you're intending to camp, get on the phone soon..... Quote Link to comment
derrylynne
A timely reminder to book now. Touring vans should be no problem as that site - it is next to the tent campsite - has more pitches. trailer tents can also be put up in the tourer site but the site informed me you would have to pay the tourer rate to do so. If you want to put up a trailer tent on the tourer site please inform Joanne at the Parc when you telephone.... And don't forget to visit the Web Site to say you have booked.... Quote Link to comment
derrylynne
As of now there is room left on the site for 3 tent pitches and 10 tourer caravans. Only 6 weeks Saturday to the event. We will be updating the web page early April and then frequently if needed to take into account extra planning. Quote Link to comment
Rubarbb
We hope to make this but not 100% sure yet. Still discussing this and the possibility fo staying over etc. Will let you know when we know! Quote Link to comment
derrylynne
We met up with Mollyjak and W&M today at the park to do some planning and what a fab weather day. Our contact at the park has informed us there is space for just one tent left so if you want it bag it quick. Touring caravans no problem at the moment although if you leave it much later you will be chancing it. We have updated the listing with more pics available. Visit this page. Quote Link to comment
The Royles
Booked our pitch for 3 nights. It has been far too long since the last camping bash, see you all soon. Quote Link to comment
derrylynne
Less than two weeks to go to event day now. It has been very dry in South Wales with no rain so far in April meaning for camping it is very dry ground at present. Spring has arrived early with most trees and bushes already out in leaf. We will be posting a link to a detailed map showing the way into Dare valley - very useful for caravan towers - in a weeks time. To give us all an idea of numbers attending if you have not registered your interest in attending it would helpful for us (so we have an idea of numbers) to click here and say you are coming. +derrylynne
Only just over a week and the 2nd South Wales event kicks off. Looking at numbers there will be quite a few at Dare Valley park. Several local cachers have been hard at work to ensure visitors have a good time and to date there are seven new caches promised for the event although you can be sure more will be out by event time. One of my hobbies since being a kid has been meteorology – like a big kid I have a weather station here in Cwmparc. With that in mind I will be putting an update for Saturday 5th May and the following day on the event web page as from Sunday evening. At the moment the outlook is for dry sunny weather for both days. Clouding over on the Monday with rain on the Monday evening. It looks like Write and Mane have done a good job with their weather order)))))) Quote Link to comment
