momwolf
So hubby has been caching for years and I've just been tagging along until now. I've managed to get my own GPS, my own geocaching account, and now my first cache - which I need a little help with. I was given the great cache in which the camouflage container is 5 ft tall by 3 ft wide and free standing, but the cache itself is only 2 inch diameter tube, 5 inches long - just big enough for a pencil and a paper log. Since I have 3 yr old and a 9 yr old, I would like to put a swag container right next to this cache - sort of like a decoy cache - buy require finding the log book and signing it to claim the cache. This will be a drive-up to cache my small little town that I'll check weekly. My questions are 1 - is this OK? 2 - would this than be a multi or still be a single cache with multiple containers? 3 - would the cache size be micro for the tube container or traditional for the camouflage it's in? Thanks for your help! Quote Link to comment
Renegade Knight
It's ok, but (and it's a big but) people will find the decoy see the swag and think they found the cache. Then they will complain about no log book. I'd hide another cache with your kids and save this for hubby. Quote Link to comment
Mary&Dave
You could make it a multi with the camo being the first stage, containing coordinates for a larger cache full of toys. As for size, I'd make it a regular with a note on the page describing the actual size (inside and out). Quote Link to comment
rogueleader1977
And nothing says that you couldn't make the large cache with the toys the first stage and then in the cache give coords to the micro where you must sign the log. We have one like that here, you find an ammo box with swag inside but no log book. Instead there are coords to a nearby micro for you to sign. Quote Link to comment
Harry Dolphin
Definitely a multi cache. Mention that the first stage has the swag, but that the second stage has the log book required to be signed to log the cache. Quote Link to comment
momwolf
Thanks for the help - I'm going with the multi cache. All I need now is to get my swag together and off I go. Quote Link to comment
