+baloo&bd Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 I am currently using Mapsource City Select, however it realy does not seem to show the county boundries very well. Does one of the other software packages display this better? Maybe even give the county information in a mouseover or waypoint detail? Quote

The only one I know about is mapopolis (where the maps regions are by county, too). However, it only runs on PDAs. Quote
+kgag Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 Google earth has the county info in it, but it can't be downloaded to PDA or GPSR obviously... kgag. Quote

Not trying to go to a PDA, just want to identify counties I have cached in. I saw the Google Earth way to do it after i posted, but I think I need to play with the detail and colors because they are real difficult to see. thanks. Quote

+ejnewman Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 (edited) You can download shapefiles of county boundaries here: http://nationalatlas.gov/atlasftp.html?ope...pbound#chpbound You should be able to use mapedit and cgpsmapper to turn them into a map you can use on a gpsr, just like you can the homegrown topo maps. +baloo&bd Posted May 25, 2006 Author Posted May 25, 2006 both NG topo and ExpertGPS show county lines. Thanks. I'll give expert a try. As I recall, NG is under the impression their software cd's are made of platinum. Quote
+IV_Warrior Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 If you're just looking for something you can use on your computer, Delorme Street Atlas can show county lines, town borders, and/or zip code boundaries. It'll import .csv files or street atlas .an1 files. (Either of which the free GPSBabel will output from a .gpx file) Quote
