MouseFart
By going to the Garmin website, I see where "Mapsource" can be downloaded. Does this cost a fee and is there anything in the download that is more detailed from what came in the Legend when I bought it new? Quote Link to comment
+Mary&Dave
I assume you're looking here? These are just updates to Mapsource and they will not work unless you own a previous version. The more detailed maps (either street or topo) run about $100. Quote Link to comment

Actually they come on CDs and yes, they are far, far more detailed than the base maps that come with the unit. Topo shows you most roads and terrain detail. Cliffs, ravines, swamps, streams, mountains, lakes, etc... City Select and City Navigator show you most roads, give turn by turn instructions to your destination (if you have a unit that supports it - the Legend doesn't) and has a database of over 5 million businesses and services so if you want to know where the nearest mall, post office, restaurant, hotel, museum, etc... is, it will tell you. I don't recommend the latter two for a Legend because of the Legend's limited map memory, but Mapsource Topo is a great addition. Its usually under $100. Quote Link to comment
+Miragee
Check eBay for the Topo maps. You should be able to buy a new set for under $80.00. The update from the Garmin site increases the functionality of the older Mapsource program that comes on the CD. Quote Link to comment
