+gluteusmaximus92
I recently had the idea of attaching a Dunking Donuts gift card (~$20) to a travel bug and have its mission to be to visit 12 different Dunkin Donuts locations, and at ech, purchasing 1 donut, thereby having bought a complete dozen. People could take pictures with the bug at their local location. I was wondering though - does this break any of the non-commericail rules that apply to caches? The cachers wouldn't have to spend any of their own money, for there wouold be the card attached, which I could refill periodically online if it ever became necessary. But I'm not trying to advertise for D&D. I just think it would be a cool idea. Quote Link to comment

+S Keillan
I once found a cache that gave out coupons for a dozen Krispy Kreme doughnuts to the first three finders. (I was third to find. ) I think that the idea of commercialisation is to avoid direct advertising. Your idea is not that, just a cool gimmick that happens to use a particular product line. You're fine. Quote Link to comment
+TripleZZZ
I think that's a great idea! Hope it comes my way Quote Link to comment
+Eartha
In this case you are giving something. If the card can be refilled, it won't be temporary. If the card can't be refilled the gift part is temporary but the TB could still move on, but you might end up having a few cachers placing an order only to find out the card is empty. Travel bugs do not go through a reviewing process, you can do what you like as long as it's reasonable, within the law, safe, not virtually logged, and you use your common sense. Put yourself in the other cachers shoes when thinking of ideas to use. Quote Link to comment
wandat24
I think it'd be a cool idea. and really if people would look and see (most gift cards have a number) on the back they can call and see if it's still loaded with money or not. and if not then they know they can't buy anything. of course you could also get an e-mail stateing it's empty (from the last person to find it) and you'd know to have it sent on home or refill it asap. +gluteusmaximus92
I'm pretty sure the D&D cards (at least certain ones) are refillabe online, so I could periodically check the balance and refill when necessary. Quote Link to comment
+badlands
It could get expensive, but I think it's a great idea. Quote Link to comment
