ttwo1969
I would like to place several points of interest in my GPS by typing the coordinates into a magellan GPS program and then transferring to my GPS. Is there an easy way to enter points of interest if I have coordinates from sites such as google earth? When I choose points of interest on Google Earth (ie. my address) it gives the location in Degree,Min,Sec such as 45*39'08.32" but my explorist seems to want it in xx*yy.zzz' (degrees and minutes only). How do I convert or is there another way to input? thanks for the help Quote Link to comment

+Indotguy
Either download a free program like GeoCalc or do a Google search for "Coordinate Conversions". There are several websites which do conversions. Quote Link to comment

+Sputnik 57
Alternmatively, change the setup on your GPSr to hddd mm' ss", then enter the coordinates. If you change it back to hddd mm.mmm, the GPSr will automatically convert them for you. Quote Link to comment
ttwo1969
excellent, I now have a converter. sputnik, do you know if the explorist 210 has the option to change the input type? Quote Link to comment
+dragophelion
Slightly related.... Is there a way to change the displayed co-ordinates in Google Earth from Degrees, Minutes, Seconds to Degrees Minutes, as it accepts both kinds in the location search but I haven't managed to find a way to change it on the map display....??? Thanks! Quote Link to comment
robertlipe
If I understand you correctly, you're marking things in GE and then wanting to stuff them into Mapsend and/or your Magellan, right? Create them in GE and save as a KML file. Use GPSBabel to convert to Mapsend or directly upload to your receiver., Quote Link to comment
