+BirdManOfCT Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 On the details page, can the cache type/size be shown like it is on the search-results pages?
+The Leprechauns Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 The cache icon is already displayed, just to the left of the cache's name on its cache details page, so not sure what you're asking for there. The cache size is indicated on the cache details page by text, rather than the little bar chart used on the nearest caches (search results) page. I rather prefer it this way, just as I prefer the numeric representation of terrain and difficulty (3/2) on the nearest caches page, and the pretty stars on the cache details page.

Yeah, I saw the text (e.g., Regular cache), but was thinking that the icon is easier to spot and goes with the style since difficulty/terrain have "icons" (stars). No biggee, just something that *I* would prefer. p.s., I see the icon, but I was thinking like the size chart when you do a search because the icon that I see for a "regular" cache and for a "micro" cache is the same on the details page. On the search page, it would be the third and first box from the left, respectively. Edited February 24, 2006 by GivenRandy

The reason the icon is the same for a "regular" and for a "micro" is that "micro" is a cache size and not a cache type.

Still, semantics aside, what I'm looking for, but not at all expecting to get, then, is a graphical indication of the cache size on the details page so that I don't have to keep going back to the search-results page to see the size (size matters to beginners like me LOL).
+Markwell Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 I think the point is that with the TEXT you don't have to go back to the search-results page. The problem is that most people don't know that = micro and = regular size even on the search results page. Replacing the text with an icon will just have MORE people saying "what size is this cache." I believe that more people intuitively know that micro is a tiny cache box, rather than a newbie coming to a cache page and intuitively knowing that is a tiny cache box. Also - The reason the icon is the same for a "regular" and for a "micro" is that "micro" is a cache size and not a cache type. Okay. Still, semantics aside... It's more than semantics. A Traditional cache is where the coordinates point you to a container. That container can be large, small, middle, tiny or whatever. You can also have a multi-stage cache that is large, small, middle, tiny or whatever. That's why they're separate.
+alexrudd Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 Why not change the "bar graph" icon to 4 different icons for micro, small, regular, and large? A film canister, tupperware, the current "traditional" one, and a 50-gallon bucket.
+Team GPSaxophone Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 Why not change the "bar graph" icon to 4 different icons for micro, small, regular, and large? A film canister, tupperware, the current "traditional" one, and a 50-gallon bucket. Because not all micros are hidden in film cans? I have hidden several micros, but I can't seem to recall a single one that used a film can. I used Altoids tins, Altoids Strips tins, Carmex containers, electrical junction boxes, fake rocks, magnetic sheets, pill bottles, and a toothpick holder. I prefer to keep the tiny "box" to show the size rather than make people assume I hid a film can.
