Cache Placement

Sometimes I find a great spot for a cache, but the physical container is not prepared yet.

So, if I submit a new cache for approval and choose to make it available at a later date, can another cache be placed within that same area before mine becomes available?

dibs? I dunno, I would guess it would depend on how much later. I've submitted caches and asked that the release be a few weeks later. Although those were in cache free forest areas.

I was thinking probably a 1 week delay, just enough time to get the container to the spot.

The reviewers go by GC#, if yours is lower than another one in the same are then you have "dibs" on the spot. Even if your cache has not been placed yet.

To expand upon that answer a bit...

 

1. If the cache is not yet in place, you MUST explain what you're doing in a "Note to Reviewer."

 

2. Reservations aren't good for forever, so don't be thinking about getting dibs on 47 spots where you might place a cache "someday." I'd happily let someone hold a spot for a week or two. I'd go longer if there's a good reason, like pursuing permission from a land manager who is slow with the paperwork.
