Budbrew
Does anyone know what the "D" means on the satalite bars on my Garmin 60CSx? Are they a good thing or not? The reason I ask is because they only show up once in a great while. Quote Link to comment
+PDOP's
The "D" means your GPS has received WAAS correction data for that satellite. Quote Link to comment
+Cardinal Red
The WAAS system provides Differential corrections. Thus the use of the letter "D". Quote Link to comment

+PDOP's
The WAAS satellites are in geosynchronous orbit over the equator so are very low on the horizon. Their signals are easily blocked by vegetation or topography. You can use Fizzy Magic's free program GeoCalc to see how their elevation at your location. Quote Link to comment
+Sputnik 57
How come the "D"s only show up once and a while for me than? It only shows up if you have a lock on a satellite numbered 33 or higher (i.e., one that is sending a WAAS signal), and then only if the unit has had a lock long enough or recently enough to have a current WAAS almanac loaded. A bit more can be found in question 2 of the Satellite Section of the FAQ. Quote Link to comment
