+maporter
Hi All, I was wondering if anyone has or used a Garmin Forerunner 301 or similar Forerunner? I've recently started running (since I stopped cycling a few years ago, the lbs have piled on) The idea of the Forerunner 301 with heart rate monitor is quite appealing, however can it be used for geocaching? - Or am I better off sticking with my eTrex and trying to persuade the other half I really need an Forerunner just for my running. It'll be an easier sell if I can use the Forerunner for both Quote Link to comment
+Haggis Hunter
I've never used the Forerunner, but Jack Aubrey uses one for caching, I believe it is very similar to the Geko range, which I do use, and the geko 201 has never failed me yet. I would say you could use the argument for both Quote Link to comment
+HazelS
We met KitebuggyBoy and Ninkle a few tmies while out caching and they used the forerunner with no problems at all! Quote Link to comment
+FuzzyBears
Hi we use the Foretrex 201 version and have found it to be reasonably accurate. the only limitation is the limited battery life(abt 3-4 hrs) if you are into all day caching hikes but if you car hop like us a 12v charger is available The only other limitation is that you cannot use it to 'make a phone call' but I have found if you shout 'beam me up' into it and look skywards the muggles dont seem to hang about too long ????? hope this helps Dave Quote Link to comment
