generalchris
I was wondering, is there any way to put a 2D GE overlay or Terraserver overlay into the Explorist XL (So I can see the buildings and forests). I work with Search and Rescue, and that would help tremendously. I was wondering is a program like ARC GIS would work? Thanks!!! Quote Link to comment
+GOT GPS?
NOPE The best way is a rugged PDA that can work with a Bluetooth GPS unit, and there are PDAs that can take rough use that can do this. Dedicated handheld GPS units can only take their own brand of mapping like TOPO 3D and Direct Route Quote Link to comment
arthurking83
............Or you could have bought a Mobile Mapper (CE) Quote Link to comment
generalchris
Is there a chance Magellan could make that software or an editor that people can use to make it? Thanks! Edited January 3, 2006 by generalchris Quote Link to comment
generalchris
Also, are they (Magellan) going to release a bike mount and swivel mount for the XL? Thanks! Quote Link to comment

The XL is a much bigger GPS so it might not fit. The GPS even has space for 4 AA batteries. Would be interesting if RAM mounts came out before Magellan got theirs out. Quote Link to comment
+007
Generalchris Don't get a Magellan built bike mount. Check out someone who specializes in mounts. I just got a Lobster mount and it is really well contructed. They make these things for bikes, windshields, ATV's, boats, aircraft, etc. I am extremely pleased with mine and their custmer support is outstanding. I munged a part in putting it together (my fault) and sent them an email. They sent me out a complete set of replacement parts the next day, no questions asked. They stand by their stuff. http://www.lobstermount.com/ Good luck. Quote Link to comment
