Whatshisname
Any chance GC will create a new category for puzzle caches? I would love to opt out of having them show up on my lists. Caching for me is to get out and see new places and get some exercise. There are so many caches that require special activities just to get the coordinates or otherwise locate the cache. I'd rather be hunting instead of spending time on the web trying to solve a puzzle or sit in the car with a calculator or just plain give up. Thx. Quote Link to comment
The Leprechauns
Exclude the "?" cache type from your pocket queries. That is the category in which the vast majority of puzzle caches fall. Quote Link to comment
Deliveryguy428
ahh darn and my final stage for Rasputins Revenge is in such a nice wooded area with a beautiful view of a river.....guess that is not enough to get people to solve it and come. Quote Link to comment
Markwell
From the Cache Types page: Mystery or puzzle caches The “catch-all” of cache types, this form of cache can involve complicated puzzles you will first need to solve to determine the coordinates. The only commonality of this cache type is that the coordinates listed are not of the actual cache location but a general reference point, such as a nearby parking location. Due to the increasing creativity of geocaching this becomes the staging ground for new and unique challenges. Quote Link to comment
Isonzo Karst
Filtering out ALL the ? types may cause you to miss caches that you would enjoy. I filter them (in GSAK) and then do a real quick read through - the ones that involve encryption, deconstructing the html or other (!?!) I usually delete, but there are others that are fine and fun. Sometimes owners have used the ? category when they really own a multi or offset and some of the ? are pretty simple. Occasionally the ? designation is on a bonus cache - find the others in the series to build coords for that bonus cache - another type that you might like. Quote Link to comment
