Jake39 Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 (edited) This category would list mainly "OLD TOWN CLOCKS" in churches, town or City Halls. They can be found all over city squares in England, on Cathedrals, Office Towers and some are re-set from other structures that were torn down. ....There are ---Musical, mechanical or new electronic clocks. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1st--> unknown clock-------------------- 2nd--> Big Ben in London ---------------------3rd-->Aloha Tower in Hawai'i Edited November 11, 2005 by Jake39
mini cacher Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 (edited) sounds nice. would they have to be on a tower like your examples? We have an old clock downtown that is not so "towering"... it is just a nice round clock on a pole maybe 8-10 feet tall on one corner of the main intersection of downtown. Also, would it have to be functional? I think there needs to be a standard definition of "old". Edited November 11, 2005 by mini cacher
WalruZ Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 I would like this if it were not restricted to "town" clocks, but were just general enough to be something like "elevated outdoor clocks" - even though you could still call it town clocks, just relax the logging requirement a bit. Out here in California you will find the occasional clock on some tower or wall, but they're not strictly a town center clock, if you see what I mean.
LSUMonica Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Already proposed two different catagories for this: Freestanding outdoor clocks Mounted outdoor clocks LSUMonica
The Seegert Seekers Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 I've also seen many very interesting, and old, outdoor clocks in downtown areas of rural michigan and indiana that would be neat to record but dont necessarily qualify as "town" clocks. This would be a good subcategory :-D
