+eosxt
If you had a max of $250, which GPS would you buy? Uses --> geocaching, hikeing and not getting lost in big woods, driving (least imp) and maybe marking some fishing spots. Quote Link to comment
+IVxIV
If by driving you mean you want a GPSr that does autorouting.. probably your best bet is a Garmin GPS V. By todays standards it is kind of old and has very little memory and doesn't auto-reroute very well.. but it comes in at your budget WITH the required software. Quote Link to comment
Hoary
I'd say Lowrance iFinder H2O: http://www.lowrance.com/Outdoor/Products/ifinderh2o.asp You could buy it at Page Computers for $128.17: http://newsite.pagecomputers.com/store/pro...uct%5Fid=633541 or for $193.61 as the Plus package with Topo mapping software, card reader and 32 MB card: http://newsite.pagecomputers.com/store/pro...uct%5Fid=633544 Quote Link to comment
+eosxt
Thanx, I apreciate the input. I have to check out the Lowrance, I've been looking mostly at the Garmins so far, but I'm open to Lowrance and Magellan also. As for the GPS V, would you say it is better than the VistaC or the Maps 60 (non c)? Quote Link to comment
+Spencersb
The Garmin Legend is well within your price range, and an excellent unit, but does not autoroute. The Legend C autoroutes (if you get the extra maps ~$100), but unit and maps would be ~$100-$150 out of your price range. My advise: Spend a little more now (if possible) and get the Legend C with the maps. It's more expensive than your given range, but less expensive than settling for something you are not happy with and end up buying the more expensive unit later anyway. +briansnat
Depends on what you want. If you want autorouting, the Garmin GPS V or Legend C. If you aren't concerned about autorouting (and from your OP it seems that is the case) then the Lowrance iFinder H20 Plus is a great choice. Its under $250 and the plus package comes with topo mapping software, card reader and a memory card. Its an excellent unit with great reception. As for the GPS V, would you say it is better than the VistaC or the Maps 60 (non c)? The Legend C and Vista C and Map 60 are much better units than the GPS V. They have more memory, faster processors, better reception and a USB connection. The attractive thing about the GPS V is the price. The City Select mapping software is included. Its $120 extra for the other units. Edited November 2, 2005 by briansnat Quote Link to comment
