Pigling
My son introduced my wife and me to Geocaching when on holiday together. We went with him to find four caches and joined in the actual hunt and signed the log books with our given names, having no user name at that stage. When we returned home we registered, adopted our own user name and started to log our finds. The burning question is... can we count the finds we made with our son before our own registration? We note that other teams sometimes hunt together so may we now retrospectively add four caches which we took part in finding even though not official, registered cachers at that time. Please?! +Polar B's
You signed the log, you found it, you can log it. Quote Link to comment
StarBrand
Have you tried to log them? I think it will work - My Dad did something similar a few years ago. Should count - worse case scenario is it doesn't - but for history's sake - go ahead and log them online. Quote Link to comment
Sputnik 57
You found 'em, you signed the log. That's a find in my book. Go ahead and log them under pigling. Remember to change the date to the date of the actual find. Welcome to the recreational activity/sport/hobby/addiction. Quote Link to comment
budd-rdc
It is possible to choose the date of your find, as long as it's not in the future. As recommended by others, you should log your find with the actual date that you found the caches, as long as your name was signed in the log book. If the cache's log book contained only your son's name but not yours, then I recommend going back and finding those caches again to make your find official. I actually did that for the first two caches I found with my brother, but he actually signed my name for me (different from my Geocaching name), so I didn't have to go back... Quote Link to comment
BlueDeuce
How it works: Find cache, sign log. Looks like if someone went to verify your find you'd be in the clear. Just post a find explaining you signed using your real name. Quote Link to comment
Team Perks
I found my first two caches two days before I signed up for the site. You bet I logged them! I don't think I actually got around to logging my first 8 or 9 finds until I'd been caching for several months, and had logged quite a few subsequent caches. There's no statute of limitations. If you found 'em, you found 'em! Quote Link to comment

Night Stalker
I found several caches several months before I actually joined. All you need to do is log your finds on Geocaching.com and back date the find date. It added to my total when i did that and should also to yours. Quote Link to comment
Pigling
Thanks everyone. I just didn't want to break any rules or be thought to be cheating! I shall log them! Pigling Quote Link to comment

Pigling When it comes to that, don't worry about logging anything. If your names in the logbook with a date, your name can be online with that same date. You "joining" date means nothing in that situation. Quote Link to comment
tands
Cheating is logging them without finding them. You're the anti-cheater!!! Yayyy Pigling! - T of TandS Quote Link to comment
