+Right Wing Wacko Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 Lucy and Rickie have several caches on the trail, and I noticed a new cache on the trail got approved today! I'm thinking of going out late sunday morning.. say 10am. Anyone else wanna come? Maybe I can break my other arm this time! I know little blue along with several others expressed an interest earlier in the summer at doing this trail. Quote
+hydnsek Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 I might be interested, altho I'm going down to Rainier area one day this weekend, whichever has better weather. Quote
+Anonymous' Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 Sounds fun, I'll check with my dad. Quote
+Right Wing Wacko Posted September 17, 2005 Author Posted September 17, 2005 Here are the caches along the trail. There are also a few more nearby. Lime Kiln - Trailhead Lime Kiln – Hubbard Lake Lime Kiln – E &MC Railway Hiking Photo Cache Lime Kiln – Lime Kiln Lime Kiln – River Loop Quote
+hydnsek Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 I see you want to meet at 10 am - where? I'm probably in - been meaning to get up there. We should see if cache ahead will be around and we can stop by and say hello, she lives nearby. Quote

Grossi and I did Lilm Kiln this summer. It's a lot of fun. Many interesting artifacts to see along the trail. Have fun! Quote
+Criminal Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 Is that doable on a bike? I have no idea where it is... Quote
+Anonymous' Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 Is that doable on a bike? I have no idea where it is... I was reading something about it and you can only do half of it on a bike, the rest is to be done on foot. Quote

The trailhead is fairly easy to find: To reach the Lime Kiln trailhead, follow state Route 92 east to Granite Falls. In town, turn right on South Granite Avenue. In three blocks, go left on Pioneer Street, which leaves the city and becomes Menzel Lake Road. In a few miles, go left on Waite Mill Road and go past a school bus turnaround to the signed trailhead on the left. If course.... now I've spoiled half the hunt! Getting there [] Quote
+hydnsek Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 I need 10 caches tomorrow to hit 1300. Six are on the trail....hmm, have to find 4 more on the way up or afterward. Quote
+Og's outfit Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 Looks like I might just head up this way after all. I'll see how I feel in the morning. Going to be a long drive and if I do it, it'll be in my husbands truck. Don't wait for me at the trailhead, I'll be on 6 mile FRS radio CH 2. Quote
+LittleBlue Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 Sorry- I can't go tomorrow . But I'll get there yet! Quote
+Right Wing Wacko Posted September 18, 2005 Author Posted September 18, 2005 (edited) Ok, I don't know who all is coming, but.. The plan is to meet at the trailhead at 10:00am sunday. I would recommend bringing water and a lunch. It's not a long hike but not a real short one either. Edited September 18, 2005 by Right Wing Wacko Quote
+Anonymous' Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 Well darn it, my dad doesn't want to go. I guess that means I can't go either. Have fun guys. Quote
+Og's outfit Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 I'm not going to make it either. Have fun! Quote
+hydnsek Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 I'm not going to make it either. Have fun! We did! I got there a bit late, and tracked RWW and Seth! for about an hour before catching up to them at the lime kiln. Nice day to be out, and we got a FTF on a new cache near the kiln. Lots of interesting artifacts, and we had lunch by the river. Quote
