+Lucie & Steve
Maybe a little bit OffTopic, but i can`t find a forum that deals with Groundspeak bussiness ) I want to become a gc.com premium member. But if i want to pay trough PayPal, they request a credit card number from me. At many other companys, also in the united states, its possible to pay trough PayPal without a credit card, which i don`t own (it`s not so common in germany like in the US). So, if i don`t also want to send my money with snail mail round half the globe, what should i do? Or better, is Groundspeak able to fix this bug in customer service? +Chuy!
If I were in your position, I'd ask a fellow cacher to pay for me. Then, I'd give him/her the money and treat him'her to a delicious German beer for his/her troubles. Quote Link to comment
+Lucie & Steve
Unfortunally, i don`t have a fellow who goes geocaching or owns a credit card that he wants to use for payment in the web, tey are all a little bit paranoid about this :o/ i also asked in an german geocachers forum, but it seems that nobody wants to do this for me. and yes, i offered beer ) And all this does also nothing change on the problem, for me and for many others they complain about. Is it so expensive, or complicatet, to change the payment method on PayPal? Yours Smo Quote Link to comment
+Bear Paughs
I don't know if there are different rules for users who reside in Germany, but US users can provide their checking account information and have the money taken from their checking account either as an instant transfer or as an e-check (essentially the same thing, but the e-check takes longer to clear.) When using PayPal you simply indicate which payment method you want to use, doesn't have to be a credit card. You should check out whether you'd be able to do this using a German bank account. +Lucie & Steve
This is the Problem, if i want do payments for Groundspeak, PayPal says: "You must have a CreditCard to do this transaction" (or similar words). If i buy Buttons from bumblebuttons.com e.g., PayPal takes the money from my bank account. Also a deposit on my PayPal account does not help. And i am not the only one with this poblem, at http://www.geocache-forum.de are some people they would be glad to become a premium member, but thy can´t get the membership for this reason. +Miragee
Sounds like PayPal has different rules over there than they do here. When I pay with PayPal, the first choice is out of my bank account. I have to click on a tiny-font link to get to "Other Funding Options" if I want to pay with my credit card. Quote Link to comment
+Old Bill
Have you tried using PayPal's virtual debit card? Go to PayPal, sign in, and go to the "withdraw" page. In the US, there is an option to "Shop online with a PayPal virtual credit card". Quote Link to comment
+Chuy!
Here are GC's instructions for cachers in your position; this appears to be your only other option, and I don't think the mail service will be that slow. Good luck. I don't want to use PayPal to subscribe. How can I become a member? "If you don't wish to use PayPal to subscribe, you can send a check or money order for $30 payable to Groundspeak to the following address: Groundspeak ATTN: Subscriptions 24 Roy St PMB 321 Seattle, WA 98109-4018 This will cover an annual subscription (sorry, no monthly subscriptions). Make sure to indicate your login name so we can set it up with a premium membership. We will email you once it has been activated." Quote Link to comment
+welch
might ask this again in the 'Geocaching.com Web Site' forum, where maybe Jeremy or someone else from the office will see it. Quote Link to comment
4wheelin_fool
I used my ATM card. It has a Visa logo on the front and can be used like a credit card. Quote Link to comment

( Chuy: From my initial post: So, if i don`t also want to send my money with snail mail round half the globe, what should i do? It's not acceptable for me to send a cheque or money by mail today around the world. The risk that the letter got lost is real, an i don't wanna have any annoyance with such things. Other US Companies handle this better then Groundspeak, e.g. the abovementioned little company bumblebuttons.com Welch: thank you for the tip, i will place a pointer there Thanks to all the posters in this thread for your attemptions to help Sincerelly yours Steve Quote Link to comment
