Listing Caches Along A Route

Recommended Posts

 I am looking for a method to quickly find caches a limited distance from a vacation travel route without dowloading (litterally) hundreds of loc files and piecing together caches that are reasonable accessable along the driving route we plan to take.

Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks

The easiest way to do this would be with pocket querys. Since you're a premium member you can download several of these that are spaced along your route, which will give you what you're looking for, along with several hundred (up to 500 with each query) that you don't want.

To filter out the ones that you don't want, use the program GSAK. You'll have to save a file from your mapping software with waypoints designating your route, but you can load that into GSAK and use it to filter out the caches along that path. You can also designate how far from that path you want to filter, such as - show only the caches within 2 miles.

Then you can output to your mapping software a list of only those caches you've filtered. And output HTML files of the cache pages to load into a palm pilot if you have one of those. If you don't have a palm, you can still use those html files to print from since they're all in one place.

GSAK is a great tool, and can do a lot of stuff. It's not free, but you can use it free for a short time. Eventually the nag screen will get very annoying and you'll want to pay the $20 (or however much it is).

I hope this helps.
