Any suggestions on where to find a biz that I could design some wooden nickels? from a newbie

I had the same idea. Although, I'm going to try "Walmart" in the crafts section for the wooden circles and take it from there with my own simple, but attractive designs. Or maybe cut circles off of an appropriately sized wooden dowel. At any rate,...

Try a local engraving place. My boss just baught a new lazer engraver and he can do some pretty amazing stuff with it. The dowel thing is a good idea for blanks.

I tried making my own wooden nickels with the wooden cutouts from Wal Mart. Now I'm currently working up a design to have done professionally. I'm sure I could make my own, but there is a learning curve in regards to ink smearing, varnish sticking, ink spreading into the grain of the wood, etc. Easier to have someone else do it.

 

Of course, I do have a few star shaped wooden nickels now! Kinda cool. Just didn't come out as well as I had hoped.
