+storm1
i know that canada is dividedd over 4 disks but is one of them a set up disk? if you had the maritimes disk (disk 3 i think?), would you need any of the others to instlall it and use it? Quote Link to comment
Plank&Calculon
I believe so. The first disk is the setup disk, plus one of the maps. I believe the other disks only contain map data, while the first probably contains the mapsource program which runs the map data. Quote Link to comment
+hamgran
Yes, you're right. The first disc is the crucial one - without installing it, you can't access the 2nd, 3rd and 4th disc. Although there is map data on the 1st disc, as well (Southwestern Canada). Do you have a set that's missing the first disc? I cracked my 2nd disc (South Central Canada) and I couldn't just buy the one disc - I had to buy the whole set again. Expensive. So now I have my full set, plus a set of three (disc 1, 3 and 4). - hamgran Quote Link to comment
+Couparangus
Did you check with Garmin to see if they'd replace it if you sent the damaged disc to them? I had to do with with Microsoft one time and they sent me the whole set for free. Nice! :-) Quote Link to comment
+yorelken
MetroGuide North America v6 gives you the works for North America and Puerto Rico on 2 disks. Very detailed for US and Canada. Quote Link to comment
+hamgran
Yes, actually, that's what Garmin (in the States) did for me. Sent me the entire 4-disc set, no charge, since they couldn't replace just the one. Pretty impressive. The Garmin reps in Quebec weren't flexible at all - according to them, I had to rebuy the complete set. - hamgran Quote Link to comment
