+Rose_Thorn
Hi - new to geocaching and wondering about benchmarks - I used to look for benchmarks years ago when I learned to read OS maps. I know a few in my area. Do people in the UK bother looking for them? Can they be logged on the geocaching site? I just find them quite interesting as I love all things to do with maps. Maybe I could just keep my own log? Any thoughts on the topic would be welcome. Quote Link to comment
ArtMan
Oh, those OS maps are a thing of beauty! (For those who haven't seen them, we're talking about the British version of our USGS topo maps, produced by the UK mapping agency, the Ordnance Survey). No plans that I'm aware of to include British benchmarks on Geocaching.com, and you shouldn't hold your breath. Benchmarks here clearly have second-class status, as evidenced by the fact that the database of US benchmarks hasn't been updated for several years. -ArtMan- Quote Link to comment
evenfall
Rose_Thorn, I came across the site that does Benchmark Hunting in the UK while back, and I was able to find it again. Here you go: http://www.trigpointinguk.com/ Enjoy, Rob Quote Link to comment
