North America City Select Unlock Questions

I am interested in purchasing NA City Select and just finished talking to Garmin. They said that because you have to unlock it it will only work with a specific unit. What happens when I want to upgrade my GPS unit later? Will I have to purchase new software, or will I still be able to use it?

After 2 you can purchase additional unlock codes from Garmin, but I'm not sure of the price.

By that tme, chances are that there will be a new version of City Select available. That's what happened to me. It was easier to just buy a fresh copy and get 2 more unlocks, than to try to figure out how to "upgrade" and buy extra unlocks.

On that note, after you have purchased one full version, is there a price break for upgrades or are you stuck paying full price each time a new version comes out.

<_< Unfortunitly up-grades cost a mere $75 and to my understanding more un-lock codes cost $75 each. That is what I had to pay in order to use the up-graded version of City Select even though I had the first program for only 3 months. It's their way of making the fat guy richer and keeping you from just giving a copy away to whomever.
