They said that because you have to unlock it it will only work with a specific unit. What happens when I want to upgrade my GPS unit later? Will I have to purchase new software, or will I still be able to use it? Quote Link to comment

So, if you only have the one unit and then upgrade, you still have the second unlock available. After 2 you can purchase additional unlock codes from Garmin, but I'm not sure of the price. Unfortunitly up-grades cost a mere $75 and to my understanding more un-lock codes cost $75 each. That is what I had to pay in order to use the up-graded version of City Select even though I had the first program for only 3 months. It's their way of making the fat guy richer and keeping you from just giving a copy away to whomever. Quote Link to comment
