GeoBard
actually, i guess the point is moot since i already logged it. i don't have a gps unit yet (i'm hoping santa comes through), but i happened upon a cache accidently while walking in a nearby park. sltnln, but since i wasn't looking for it in the first place, should i have logged it, or am i technically still a virgin? +Criminal
If you find it, it counts. If it fell from the sky and crushed your skull, you would still log it. No GPSr required, in fact, some don't even use one. Quote Link to comment
+Travers
It certainly does count. I've come across 2 or 3 caches which have been discovered accidently and it's always interesting to read the logs. Hope you get the GPSr for Christmas. Quote Link to comment
+welch
Assuming you signed the log book, yes its a find. Some cachers actually don't use a GPSr they just go off of maps & hints Quote Link to comment
+dogdoins
Good work! Sounds like you don't need a GPS. I'd definitely count it. You might want to let the hider know if you found it accidentally as they might want to rethink the hiding place. Quote Link to comment
+Team StitchesOnQuilts
I agree that since you found it, you deserve to log it. I'm glad you signed the log - that's a nice thing to do for the cache owner. I also agree with the person who said that you might want to notify the cache owner that you found it accidentally. They might want to change the hiding place. Welcome to Geocaching! I sure hope Santa comes through for you, GPS-wise. Shannah Quote Link to comment
GPSCache
Technically is should count, only if you find it with a GPS. It DOES NOT count if you don't find it with a GPS, and you have to refind it with a GPS in order for it to officially count. Quote Link to comment

No where on this site can you find that it states you can only find a cache with a GPSr. Many folks find them with just maps and hints. I found my first cache this way. If you find a cache, no matter how, you can log it. Now true, its much harder to PLACE a cache without a GPS.... but that's another story. Quote Link to comment

WaldenRun has found over 500, and doesn't even own a GPSr. I've done almost 300 without my GPSr, about 63 percent of my total. Quote Link to comment
cantileveredge
Technically you need 18 people to play baseball too but 6 kids with a ball, a bat and some cardboard bases would probalbly differ and can have a great time playing 3 on 3. A geocacher with no gpsr sounds like a " ghostman on first". Never tried it myself (I like the etoys) As long as your having fun playing I welcome all gamers! Quote Link to comment
+dogdoins
GeoBard, You are in violation of geocaching rules. Jeremy would like to see you in his office. Nice knowin' ya. Don't worry. You'll bounce back. Quote Link to comment
