+Team Tayjam
Is there a way to search for caches that are located at Interstate rest areas, or close to Interstate exits? It would be kind of fun to stop at som e areas that had caches while I'm traveling. Is it possible to search for caches like that? Is it possible to find caches along a certain route or a certain interstate? Quote Link to comment
+Shalimarjim
I don't know of any easy way to do that either. Buxley's web site is what I use but the Interstates are difficult to find. Quote Link to comment
+Isonzo Karst
The Florida Geocaching Association has created a rest stop data base for Florida here. There was talk of joining with other associations to go national, though I don't see any action on that. Other state organizations may well have a similar list. It's also possible in both GSAK and Expert GPS to query for waypoints within X distance (say .25 miles) of a route you create. Quote Link to comment
+carleenp
Before I went paperless and got some mapping programs, I used an online map (either the GC.com maps or Buxleys) and scrolled along my route looking for caches. Another way is to do narrow pocket queries along the route. Now what I do is feed the data from larger pocket queries into a map program like mapsource or streets and trips, which can put up icons for the caches on the map. Then I looks for ones that appear to be at rest areas or just off the interstate. Finally, if you have mapping on your GPS, you can just watch for nearby caches as you drive. Then when you see one, you can go look for it. Quote Link to comment
