+hueyflyer & copilot
Hi I have a Garmin 3+ circa 1999 (version 2.06). Went our Geocaching with friends and see that my unit is off up to 50' compaired to their 2004 unit. Close as I got according to mine was 20'. Found a cache this past Sat and the gps said I was 26' away. Is this normal or should I upgrade to a newer gps? Thanks, Jack (hueyflyer) Quote Link to comment
+PDOP's
It's normal for a GPSr that doesn't have WAAS. You should expect accuracy of +- 15 metres. Quote Link to comment
+Team BlackZ
When I first started caching, I was using a 3plus. It worked well for me. I'm not sold on WAAS. I keep it turned off on my 60CS. Seems to slow the unit down some. Quote Link to comment
+GLM
I have a Garmin II+(the one with NO basemap). I have found 900 plus caches with it. Sometimes I have even zeroed in before the newer models have. A couple of things come to mind. One being the setup of the unit itself. Are you using the same map datum as the other units? That alone could cause errors. Gary Quote Link to comment

I upgraded to the V to keep my accessories, and because I liked the features and form factor. Quote Link to comment
+hueyflyer & copilot
HI I am using WGS84 for the Map Datum, the unit's default. Is this correct? Quote Link to comment
