Yogi The Bear
I'm trying to delete City Select v6 maps from a Garmin 76C so that the only maps on the unit are the original factory ones. Does anyone know how to do that? Quote Link to comment
+Sputnik 57
Not sure about this, but try going to MapSource, select no maps, and D/L them to your GPSr. I know that the GPSr replaces maps with the latest download, and then uses the base map to fill in the blanks. If you download the nul set, it should default to the base map. Alternatively select a map in Nowheresville, NE to download. You get the base map for your area. Out of curiousity, why are you trying to do this? Quote Link to comment

+Ed & Julie
If it's like my Legend, there is a way to do a master reset, that reverts the unit back to it's factory settings. I haven't done it, so I don't know gow to, just that it's possible. Check your owners manuel. Ed Quote Link to comment

Neo_Geo
A master reset will NOT restore the original POI Database or any Map data. If anything, a Master Reset would cause the LOSS of map data, but probably wouldn't. But it might cause the loss of waypoints, tracks and other user data. To restore the original POI Database (without any user data loss), go to the GPSMAP 76C Software Updates Page. Look for the link on the right side of the page under "Download Preloaded POI Database for GPSmap 76C" "If MapSource data is loaded to this unit, this unit's preloaded POI database will be erased. Please download the file below if you wish to recover this POI database. Download (3.93 MB) " In other words, when you uploaded City Select v6 maps to the GPSr, the POI Database was erased. To erase the City Select v6 maps and restore the original POI Database, download the file and run the application. Edited September 15, 2004 by Neo_Geo Quote Link to comment
