edvfuzzi
I hope this problem will solve itsself but I was quite disappointed when I looked at my newly published cache page. All formatting has gone lost. It is not only the look that bothers me, but there are lines which depend on the correct font. I.E. where the line with the alphabet MUST have the same length as the line with the corresponding numbers below it. Is there any way how I can edit the page myself or will someone here correct this? This is my first cache so please excuse me if I am too nervus about this matter. To see what I mean look at my newly creared page with "Hugenotten-Schaetzchen" near Frankfurt in Germany. edvfuzzi Quote Link to comment
+sbell111
You should be able to edit it yourself by clicking on the 'edit this cache' button at the top right of the cache page. Obviously, you must be signed in. Quote Link to comment
+Jamie Z
I'm not sure how you edited your page... but... At the top of the input box, where you enter the text for your cache description there is a box for "I supply the HTML" or something like that. If you check that box, your text will be displayed as an HTML file and all formatting will depend on your use (or lack of) of HTML. If you don't check the box, your text will show up just as you wrote it in the box. It could be that you've checked the box, but haven't formatted your text with HTML. If that's the case, I believe you can edit your cache and uncheck the box. Or it could be that you haven't checked the box, but maybe the geocaching website doesn't support different fonts such as you want, only plain text. Jamie Quote Link to comment
+Jamie Z
Ok, I looked at your page. It seems that you have not used HTML to format, but simply typed in the text how you wanted it. I see the problem with the encryption key. I'm not sure if the cache pages support it, but I believe the Typewriter font is non-proportional. If someone can suggest how you can insert a non-proportional font, you'll be in business. On a side note, I noticed you have the cache rated as a 1/1. As a multi with puzzles and encryption keys, I can already tell that its higher than 1-star difficulty. I can't judge the terrain, but you ought to take a second look at the ratings. Here's the link to the official cache rating system. Jamie Quote Link to comment
+Renegade Knight
Windows has a few fonts that are non porportional. Check out Courier or whatever the heck they call in in windows. It's an ugly font but, you take what you can get. ===================== Wherever you go there you are. Quote Link to comment

edvfuzzi
Jamie seems to have the best analysis of my problem. I can edit the text meanwhile but only using the boring system font. The non-proportional font that I need for the table with the alphabet ist called "Courier New". All the formatting, i.e. colours or fat fonts are not accessible for me and unfortunately I have no knowledge of HTML. Obviously it is different from what I get when I use wordpad (or winword). Parallel to sending my cache-registration I sent them my wordpad-version of the text thinking they could make use of it´s formatting but it looks as if I had to learn how to do it myself... Oh yeah, Jamie - you may be right with your opinion concerning the rating. After reading the link you provided I will change the rating to 3/3. Actually all the solution on the way to the final cache are easily accessible. Basically they require more of your brain than your feet. Mostly you will understand the question immediately once you get to the location calculated from the previous question. The only real searching is necessary for the final cache-location. But since the whole search may well take half a day I reconsidered the rating. Thank you for your inputs... [This message was edited by edvfuzzi on May 08, 2003 at 01:59 PM.] Quote Link to comment
+Markwell
If you get into the html coding, there's a code for non-proportional fonts that finds one on your machine: <tt> at the beginning and </tt> at the end. Markwell Chicago Geocaching Quote Link to comment
+Don&Betty
There are lots of HTML tutorials out there on the net. Here's one: http://www.davesite.com/webstation/html/chap01.shtml I have just started studying them myself. Quote Link to comment

Enclose the portion you want formatted within <pre> </pre> tags. Look at this cache for an example. Quote Link to comment
