Digital Map Question

New to caching, we like hiking and just bought an eTrex Legend

Question:

Are there any other digital map systems that can be used with the Legend other then the proprietary Garmin Mapsource?

To load maps into the GPS, MapSource is the only option.

We have dialup and the hours to load .NET framework seems like a pain, unless QuakeMap is that good

you could try using usaphotomaps. i used that with my etrex venture. also, if you want to spend money, National Geographic TOPO! is some very nice software.

There is much more mapping on the net. With CacheMaps I collected most and combined it to work with the geocaching loc- and gpx-files.

 

If you also use offline mapping programs, you can also connect to these from CacheMaps.
