Elevation Information 0, 0, 0

Recommended Posts

I took my Garmin GPSmap 60CS on a backpacking trip in utah, and it was awesome to have. The barometric altimeter seemed to be working fine, it was plotting the elevation and pressure like it should.

But what was wierd, was how on information, like total Total Ascent, and Max Elevation, and other related elevation information would say 0ft the whole entire time. No matter what I did, it would not show anything other then 0ft.

Im using version 3.10 and had US TOPO being shown. Any ideas whats goin on?

On the Altimeter setup page you have to set the Barometer Mode to "Variable Elevation".

As the manual specifies (page 66): Elevation trip data is not recorded when in the Fixed Elevation mode.

But be also aware of the downside:

The track log will grow for the same distance by factor 3 to 4. That's not something I expierienced with my 76s.
