truckon
If you have 106 19.637' and you move to 106 19.638' how many feet are you away from the first reading. Is there a web site that explains this. Quote Link to comment

+CharlieP
The answer to your question depends on the latitude. The number of feet in a degree of longitude varies with the latitude, becoming a smaller distance as you approach the poles. An approximation of feet in .001 minute of longitude can be made by this formula: cosine(latitiude) x 6 feet. In Wyoming its about 4.5 feet. Latitude is easier, its about 6 feet per .001 minute everywhere. FWIW, CharlieP Quote Link to comment

I just looked at Markwell's FAQ!!!! Sure wish I had seen this during the first couple of weeks here. Would have saved me a lot of posts. Nice Job!! Of course thats ignoring the HUGE error ( ) with the cactus in the triangulation section. But what the heck, not everyone had the privilage of growing up in the desert. ( the Saguaro cactus would NEVER grow that close to a stream and never at the same altitude as those trees. Unless of course the cactus is really a camoflaged cache. in that case I withdraw my comments ) in spite of my poor humor, its a job well done! thanks for all your hard work Lapaglia "Muga Muchu" (forget yourself, focus).
