Not Quite A Vacation Cache Question.

I have a few caches in Rest Areas that wouldn't be allowed under the newer rules that have been really succesful Bug Hotels.

As someone that travels alot I love these types of caches that I don't have to get off the freeway and can take a short hike and pickup and dropoff some bugs.

My question is if I wanted to place more of these would it be best to place one first then find a local cacher to adopt it or to scout the location and then try to find a local cacher to place a cache there?

Please don't turn this into a flame war or yet another discussion on 'vacation caches'.

It's just a simple question.

I would say if you travel that area frequently, make a note of that to the approver, so he knows you can do necessary maintenence within the guidelines and plant the cache!

But, sometimes I just like to contradict Woody.....

Hmm...

I would say scout the location and pass the idea on, and then maybe they will agree about the location and go about creating a cache. Placing and then finding someone to adopt a cache there may get a hotel going quicker, but would have a greater chance of ending up as geolitter.

Edit: clearifying statement

You could advertise in a local forum and arrange for a drop off so to speak. One where you drop off the container, let them find it and take over the cache. There is a certain intrensic interested in something like that. For one thing the local isn't out a container but they do get a cache under their belt.
