+TeamK-9
I just got the UTM coordinates to a location I need to visit from Topozone, how do I convert them to something my GPSr can actually understand? Quote Link to comment
Tahosa and Sons
Try changing the setup for your GPS. Most GPS's can do more than one coordinated system. Quote Link to comment
+Mr Darcy
You might check if your GPS will handle this for you. Look on the system & navigation pages. My Garmin 12XL stores co-ords independently of the co-ordinate and reference systems used. I regularly enter co-ords as ddd mm.mmm WGS84 then change the references to UTM AustMapGrid 66 (Most of my paper maps use this.) I also work the other way if I am in the field as my GPS is nearly always set to work with the map then so when I get back home I convert the other way. Otherwise, try buying a topo map of your area. Australian ones all have conversions marked on them. As the systems used vary from one location to another ( and the age of the map!), you will need the system local to your area. +Poindexter
TopoZone allows you to select the position displayed as either UTM or Lat/Lon as well as NAD27 or WGS84/NAD83 Datum. Or you can just set your GPS to UTM and the proper Datum and enter in the UTM values. Poindexter Quote Link to comment
