To conduct the spoofing attack, an adversary broadcasts a fake GPS signal with a higher signal strength than the true signal. The GPS receiver believes that the fake signal is actually the true GPS signal from space and ignores the true signal. The receiver then proceeds to calculate erroneous position or time information based on this false signal. I see the makings of a truly devious cache. Quote Link to comment
+Renegade Knight Posted December 12, 2003 Share Posted December 12, 2003 I had a similar idea with a compass. Follow a bearing to a point where your compass quits. It quits because I would of dropped a powerful magnet down a crack in a rock near ground zero. That was your clue you were close. A GPS wouldn't help you. I settled on a short hike in a cave where both the GPS and compass were worthless. Quote Link to comment
