Other Types Of Software For Gps?

Recommended Posts

I think most Waypoint proggies allow you to import a jpg (or similar) of a map scan or a ariel photo, then "calibrate it" thus showing waypoints and tracks on a piccie

I use GPSU from http://www.gpsu.co.uk/

If your waypoints and tracks are in the USA have a look at ExpertGPS from http://www.expertgps.com/ I just stumbled across this package and have to say this is a great piece of SW as it takes your waypoint and tracks and automatically puts them on either a tropological map or Ariel Photo map - downloading the jpg maps on the fly from a server

The "downside" for us international users is that the "automatic download service" only covers the USA - I guess this is because of the US gov'ts open stance that maps and arial photos of America are open source and available to the public - all other govertments (it seems) see these things as a source of revenue ;)
