+allncham & fam
I have just a quick question that I need an opinion on. I have an Etrex Venture now. I have also ordered a Magellan Sporttrack. My question is concerning the neoprene (did I spell that correctly?) covers I see offered on some websites. Pardon my igornance, but do these interfere with your reception? It seems to me as if they would, but I'm no expert in this area. If there is loss of signal,is it enough to be concerned about? I guess I don't really need one of these, but they look kind of neat. Thanks in advance for any info Quote Link to comment
Bender
Unobtainium is the only known element on earth that will affect GPS signal reception. Neoprene will not affect it at all. Bender Searching, for the lost Xanadu Quote Link to comment
+Runfrog
I have few problems with reception. No, the neoprene won't affect reception, yes you spellt' neoprene correctly. I have a Garmin 12 and a Legend. Guess which one has the worst reception? Hint it ain't the legend. Now I have used mine in the car traveling crosscountry covered with a hat (the GPS, not me) and had perfect reception. A heavy wet leaf canopy is the only hing that has blocked both units. appy GPSing Quote Link to comment
OuttaHand
I completely agree with the above replies. I have a Garmin 76 and a Garmin Rino 120. Both have neoprene covers. Both are designed with the top exposed (f course, the Rino has an external antenna anyway) and both work beautifully --- no problems from the cover. I really like the protection it gives the screen and the extra padding on the unit itself. I strongly recommend a neoprene cover. Cheap insurance. Quote Link to comment
