My dad was asking about it, sale price it is in the range of the Etrex Legend (without the rebate). Was just wondering pros/cons of this model. My experience is with the yellow Etrex -so was especially looking for comments from fellow cachers who might have used both. Advertized as being excellent under tree cover -was wondering if this was true? Let me know positive or negative and I'll pass on your advice. Thanks. +PDOP's Posted May 22, 2003 Share Posted May 22, 2003 I have the basic 12 and love it. That said, it's a bit dated now and is showing it's age. The 12XL uses 4 batteries while the Legend uses 2. The Legend has a tracklog of 2048 points vs 1024 for the 12 XL. They both have the same antenna so reception under trees should be the same.
