+reepicheep
Does anyone know the legend/pin-outs of the connectors on back of the Magellan SporTrak? Thanks, Ken Quote Link to comment

SinCityFun
(I had to edit this post because it ignored the spacing. I have replaced the spaces with underlines.) As you look at the back of the SporTrack: _________O________________O _____3.89 +VDC________DB9 pin 5 _______________________Ground ____O___________________________O DB9 pin 3___________________DB9 pin 2 Data In_____________________Data Out You should verify my findings before applying power to your SporTrak. +Night Stalker
Don't know which order the top 2 pins are, but I just purchased a power adaptor for the lighter in my car and the top 2 of for the power. Lost? Keep going. You're making good time anyway!! Quote Link to comment

+reepicheep
Thanks for the info. I did get some data using the NMEA mode in Hyperterm on my PC. I attempted to use EasyGPS and GPS Utility with no success. I had saw something someone posted about jumpering two pins on the PC side worked for some people. I know a little about RS232 but I cant remember which pins control DTR and CTS and such. I am gonna search for it again, but anyone knows, please let me know. Ken Quote Link to comment
Dale_Lynn
The only RS-232 lines are used are TX, RX and GRD.. Unless you specify control lines in the control logic, they will be ignored. Besure GPSr and PC comm port are at same BAUD rate. Think the default Magellan is 4800....... -------------------------------------------------------- I'm Diagonally Parked, In A Parallel Universe. -------------------------------------------------------- [This message was edited by Dale_Lynn on January 10, 2003 at 07:56 PM.] Quote Link to comment

+reepicheep
Thanks. I got the cable working on my desktop system. Funny thing...my coworker just bought a Magellan Meridian that came with a cable and was having the same problem with his laptop. I hooked my cable up to my desktop and it works fine. Strange. I suspect something to do with the Infrared ports on the laptops... Oh well. Thanks for everyones help. Ken Quote Link to comment
