+Gliderguy
the III and III+ are excellent units to cache with. Before I bought my V, I used both the III and III+ and was very satisfied with the results. Quote Link to comment
Alphawolf
Works as well as you could ask for. Doesn't do maps, but that won't slow you one bit. Quote Link to comment
+OzzieSan
Works fine for caching but I mostly us the Venture for that. Quote Link to comment
+Gimpy
III Plus is a fantastic unit, under any conditions. I've got 5 gpsr's & the III Plus gets the best satellite lock of all of them. It's basically the predecessor to the fantastic Garmin V. The III Plus is a discontinued model, so you won't get any more firmware updates. And it won't hold too many maps, as it only has 1.44 mb. of available memory. But it's still one of my favorites & very user friendly. You can usually pick them up for a very good price. Go for it! crr003
I have a 3+ and am very happy with it, although I can't compare against other GPS units. It's still listed on the Garmin site so I'm wondering if it is discontinued? Nil Satis Nisi Optimum Quote Link to comment

No firmware updates since June. "Gimpy" Quote Link to comment

crr003
Maybe the software's so good to start with it doesn't need many upgrades? Nil Satis Nisi Optimum Quote Link to comment
